Abbreviation for the currency pair or cross, of the European Union euro (EUR), and the United States dollar (USD). The currency pair shows how many US dollars (the quote currency) are needed to buy one euro (the base currency). Traders who trade the EUR/USD currency pair also refer to it as trading the “euro.” The value of the EUR/USD pair is quoted as 1 euro equates to x U.S. dollars. The EUR/USD is the most traded currency pair.
